Modern world hackers

 Pekka Himanen quotes seven different values that are applicable to hackers of the modern age. 

The first one is passion. If you do not have that certain passion in etched into you then you would probably burn out quickly. It is passion that drives the hackers to do what they do, they have the constant urge to try to explore, exploit and create. 

The second one is freedom. A feeling of freedom is produced when you realize that you have the ability to create or break into anything you want. This kind of links into the first value, because freedom often drives our passion.

The third one is work ethic. A modern day hacker definitely needs to have a good work ethic in order to succeed, because the work is not often easy and you need to work relentlessly if you want to overcome certain obstacles.

The fourth one is money ethic. It is often important to realize that money is not everything. To quote Joker from the Batman franchise: "It's not about the money, it's about sending a message.". This is often true, because you could make a lot of money by exploiting a vulnerability in someone's system and extorting them for money, but instead you can send a message to the public and make an example out of them.

The fifth one is network ethic. Having total freedom of word and censorship is a quite powerful thing. Especially if you can achieve full anonymity in a network, then there seems to be no significant reason to follow the rules of others.

The sixth one is caring. Having the ability to look at the bigger picture helps to remove the seemingly big problems in your life. Sometimes you got to stop and think about what you are actually working towards and re-evaluate, whether that is the goal you truly want to reach.

The seventh one is creativity. Hacking often times requires creativity, as you need to be constantly on the look out for angles you have not thought of yet.

Review on "Development and usage of artificial intelligence in chess"

 I wanted to review this topic, because I have seen tons of videos on YouTube discussing it, but I have never really paid enough attention to the matter that I would do some kind of research on it. But now the opportunity has presented itself to me. It is time to enrichen my mind with knowledge and dig into the world of artificial intelligence in the game of chess. I like the way they start the story from the very beginning. It helps you understand, how the game and the AI has evolved over time. The overview of the timeline was very interesting. I imagine that due to the sheer amount of material and research that is available for this topic, it was hard to pinpoint the most significant events, but they did a very good job. I like the fact that for each of the events that they brought up in the timeline, they got straight to the point with it. To encrypt or not to encypt

Encryption is a fundamental part of our everyday lives, yet it usually goes unnoticed by users, because everything is happening in the back-end. It has been used throughout history to secure communication between people. One of the earliest forms of encryption was used back in 100BC by Julius Ceasar and that, which you have probably guessed already, was the Ceasar Cipher. It worked by shifting the letters of the alphabet by a certain factor. In current times we have much more safer ways of encrypting our messages, however the principle of encryption has stayed the same - to make readable text unreadable. One of the simplest, but yet still very useful technology from the past was the hourglass. It was used to measure a set amount of time. However it went obsolete when humanity discovered electricity and began manufacturing clocks.
